THE STILLROVEN FARM STORY

Tucked away in rural farmland near Mead, Colorado in the shadow of the majestic Longs Peak lies Stillroven Farm, a family-owned, members-only upland bird hunting preserve. Since its inception in 1970, when it opened as Bang-A-Way Gun Club, Stillroven Farm has maintained its status as one of Colorado's most pristine and elite hunting clubs. Located just 45 minutes north of downtown Denver and 25 minutes south of Fort Collins, Stillroven is the oldest private upland hunting club in the state of Colorado.

Stillroven Farm ensures an exciting hunting experience that features over 300 acres of wooded area, cattail draws, five ponds and open cover consisting of a variety of natural prairie grasses along with irrigated corn and milo. The cover provides the best natural habitat possible for pheasant and chukar partridge, which makes for a very challenging and sporting hunt.

To provide you with a great hunting experience, Stillroven Farm's hunts are professionally guided and use the Club's trained flushing dogs, which are Springer Spaniels and English Cockers. Members and guests who wish to use their own dog for all or part of a hunt may do so.

We have four hunts a day, two in the morning and two in the afternoon with each hunt lasting a little over three hours. For those of you who are early risers, morning hunts begin at 8 a.m. and for those of you who would rather hunt in the afternoon, you can start your hunt at 1 p.m.

Since Stillroven Farm is a private hunting reserve and licensed by the State of Colorado, our hunting season is longer than the public hunting season within Colorado. Our season typically runs from the beginning of November through the end of March and no state hunting license is required, although we do ask that hunters under 21 years of age have their Hunters Education Card.

Once your hunt is complete, your harvested birds may be traded out that day for cleaned frozen birds. We use a Cryovac system for bagging and sealing cleaned birds to ensure freshness and easy traveling. But if you wish, you may take home your feathered birds for cleaning.

Before each hunt, members and their guests can gather in our clubhouse, which was remodeled from an old barn dating back to the early 1900's. The clubhouse features a regulation pool table, card tables and a large open fireplace for your enjoyment. Coffee, tea and soft drinks are complimentary and if you like, you may order lunches from our menu. Your lunches will be waiting for you after your morning hunt or before your afternoon hunt.
